The National Board of Trade's work with trade defence instruments

The National Board of Trade is consistent in its promotion of the benefits of free and open trade when working with trade defence instruments.

The National Board of Trade's work with trade defence instruments focuses on the on-going work concerning the introduction of anti-dumping measures within the EU and on the renegotiation of the current WTO agreements in the field, within the Doha Round.

Takes on-board feedback from the business community
The National Board of Trade analyses and gives recommendations to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs concerning the Commission's suggestion concerning the introduction of trade defence instruments against imports from third-countries. In this context the Board welcomes opinions from Swedish companies and trade organisations. The Board also provides expert support to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, which represents Sweden in meetings with the Commission's anti-dumping committee.

An important aim of the National Board of Trade's work with trade defence instruments is to increase the awareness and knowledge among Swedish companies, to allow them to more actively influence the Commission's investigations and suggestions. One step in this is to regularly organise or participate in seminars for companies in the anti-dumping field.

Informs about defence instruments
The National Board of Trade also actively works to disseminate information to trade organisations and companies concerning trade defence instruments that are applied by countries outside of the EU, where the measures risk having an impact on Swedish exports.

The National Board of Trade also works to influence the Commission's and other Member States' attitudes towards trade though analyses, official statements and more extensive investigations in the field.
