The Board has an important role as a contact/enquiry point for businesses and citizens, both for problem-solving and for information in different areas.
The Board is also a partner in the SOLVIT network, which connects governmental agencies across Europe in order to help companies and individuals caught between differing regulatory systems.
Both outside the EU and within the internal market the Board acts as a kind of “Ombudsman” for businesses and citizens who would like to submit a complaint about existing or potential trade barriers. The Board analyses all complaints and works out the most efficient measures to address the problems raised. The cases are sometimes referred to the government for further action or deliberation.
The Board is responsible in Sweden for the EU and WTO information and notification procedures for proposals for new national technical regulations.
Finally, the Board is the Swedish contact/enquiry point for questions with regard to the implementation and application in Sweden of the WTO agreements in:
Trade in Services (GATS)
Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS)
Pre-shipment Inspection
Technical Barriers to Trade
Sanitary and Phytosanitary Regulations
Within its sphere of competence, the Board provides swift and impartial information on the rules and procedures of the EU, the WTO and other relevant sources. This information is provided in both oral and written form.
All EU regulations, directives and decisions, as well as proposals and reports from the European Commission and judgements from the Court of Justice, are provided upon request. These services are available by mail or fax.
