The Contact Point for goods helps companies that wish to import or export goods to Sweden. On request by a company the Contact Point for goods provides information on the regulations applicable to specific products in Sweden, or contact information for other authorities in Sweden that have information about specific products. Sweden's Contact Point for goods is located at the National Board of Trade.
The Contact Point for goods provides companies with information about current national technical regulations regarding a specific product. On request by a company, the Contact Point for goods can also provide contact information for an authority with responsibility for certain types of products. In this way the company does not need to spend time investigating which regulations may apply for their products in Sweden or which authority is responsible for the regulations governing a specific product.
Questions may be submitted by email or telephone to the Contact Point for goods. Questions are answered within 15 working days after receipt by the Contact Point.
If you need information on technical regulations in other member states for a specific product you will find it on the European Commission website.
If an authority has taken a decision that may contravene the EU regulations for free movement of goods you can check here whether your case could be handled instead by the Swedish Solvit centre at the National Board of Trade.
EC Regulation 764/2008 on mutual recognition implies that member states are to establish a contact point for goods in all member states. In Sweden, the National Board of Trade is the authority appointed to carry out this task.
